  • I want to continue writing on this wiki, but after seeing what you wrote on the Hatia talk page, I would like your opinion on my work before I continue. I prefer to know if I'm doing anything wrong or if anything needs to be improved so this won't turn into a repeat of W40k fanon all over again.

    • The only thing I would personally say is rather than put all your eggs in one basket (so to speak) with Ashur's abilities you maybe could have several characters that perform different roles (eg. subordinates who do the dirty work). Other then that I would be happy to see more of your work here as it seems to fit into the setting well.

    • Oh I plan to. I just haven't got around to working on Ashur's mooks and dragons (the second-hand dude). I want to finish DhanaTech first, but I want to know from the god-king himself whether or not my work fits his vision. I'm not going to write something he doesn't like.

    • We deposed Necrus as God-King in a fair democratic coup d'etat. So as the current Co-Prince of the Canon (along with Lither) you really should be asking us instead.

For serious. Necrus did appoint me as The Word of God on all canonical and technical criticism matters:

    • Just to clarify

      1. This thread didn't distract us (the admins) from doing anything. It was just a source of mild entertainment.
      2. Guardian Gene isn't the only source of "super powers/magic/elemental ability" in the setting. There's several other talents listed on the Elements page that detail what people can manipulate. That said, in K21 (the current series), Elementals are pretty rare and their treatment varies from country to country.
      3. Plant is plant because Necrus says is is. It's implied to be a mutated hybrid of the water and earth powers.
      4. Most of us just come up with names to fit the character. Name generators are rarely used, but Behind the Name can be useful if you're struggling.
      5. Keidis ratings honestly aren't that important. They're a satire of "power rankings" of supernatural abilities. Dog of War has given the simplest explanation I can think of, mind.
      6. Just like religion today, mythological history is highly debated as fact or fiction. The confounding variable of elementals gives rise to more claims from deists for religious miracles being the result of those blessed by god (certain elementals like light and water) and large disasters to be the fault of agents of satan (certain other elementals like fire and shadow). Of course, non of this is ever confirmed in-universe because that would be akin to confirming events that happened in mythological stories in our own world. Certain organisations, like dog already mentioned with Neo Luminous Christianity believe that Jesus was a light elemental and that light elementals are the chosen of God.
      7. As for historical figures that have been documented, again historical bias lends towards the beliefs of those studying them. Some great figures in history may have been elementals but many others probably weren't (due to how rare the distribution would have been historically). For the most part, just take history as having happened as it did in our world. It makes life easier (since people couldn't properly understand what "elementals" were until the turn of the 20th Century and at that point they were also exceedingly rare).
      8. You'll need to familiarise yourself with basic headings, infoboxes and wikia structures (see Dog's post).

Kind regards, Khalael, Head Writer of the K21 Series.

    • Plant was initially control of plant life, like vines and stuff. However It was changed later on to grant more useful and less silly abilities, namely control of cellular tissue and acids. Mathieu Dalton for instance uses his power over "plant" element to heal the wounds of people he secretly operates on without leaving scars.

The naming system if these elements is fairly arbitrary. Plant doesn't control plants, Shadow doesn't control "shadow".

  • Say Necrus, have you considered adding populations for the sectors and cities? Just a thought, but some numbers would be nice. :D

  • Hi Neck, I've got a college project to design a video game cover and have decided to do this based around K21, as such I've been photoshopping characters from their respective backgrounds. I was wondering if you could do my a massive favour and furnish me with something.

I need a city background, preferably as dystopian as you can with possible cyberpunk elements to it.

I was also gonna ask for a either the photoshop files of some of your drawings, or .PNGs of them without their respective backgrounds. This is less important than the background, but I thought I'd ask as I'm inept with photoshop and keep accidentally deleting the lining as I go. In particular I need:

    Li-Pau Nao,

    Sandra Mai,

    Claude Lasi-Faité (1st edition),

    Vamana Ulderricks (latest edition),

    Alison Katsura (latest edition),

Miki Albraun (either dataslate picture or the other one),

    Andrew Sol,

    Mitch Ochoa,

Young Jacinta Hansen (her in the steps is a cool pic I wish to mess with),

    Eric Lysander,

    Elise Thurston,

    Natilia Kwolac.

I understand this is a huge list of pics, but I'd really appreciate your help with this, and afterwards, I'll post the finished product here so you can laugh at how badly I butcher this.

    • Ahh. For efficiency purposes, I use the magic wand tool when selecting. Rather than selecting where you drag, it selects everything of the same colour in proximity to where you clicked (or everything of the same colour throughout the whole image if you un-tick the contiguous box in the top bar), and it also helps to have a tolerance setting.

I can see what problem you'd be having. The only way out of it to the best of my knowledge is through option B. You could either erase by hand or slowly select the character through a usage of the magic wand and lasso/polygonal lasso tools, inversing the selection (through right-clicking and chosing the option), pressing delete, and finally using the magic eraser tool to make the background transparent (assuming it isn't already on its own layer, i.e. "layer 1", where it does it automatically).

This would be especially hard if the background itself is dark, which may be selected by the tool accidentally.

So yeah, definitely the best and faster route by far is to always have different objects on different layers.

    • Got the pictures of the characters now, cheers, just gotta find a suitable background. If you can I need to find something with a building directly behind to position several of the characters, preferably pretty big as well as I have a plan for Claude on the back cover (have him smoking in front of a giant hololith or poster of him) in addition to having the others on the background, if you have several that would fit the role nicely, send them all and I'll see what I'll do.

Again, very appreciated and thank you.
